Starting the Year Right

As most people are making New Year’s Resolutions, there’s none better than committing to read the Bible through in a year.  It’s easier than you think, but harder than you realize!  It’s easy because you can take less than 15 minutes a day and easily accomplish this.  It’s harder than you realize because this is a spiritual exercise and you’ll find yourself easily distracted behind before you know it.  Here are a couple of resources for you if you’re interested in reading the Bible through this year…

Here are some plans from Nate Treguboff.

Ed Stetzer offers some resources.

Finally, Justin Taylor shares multiple plans for reading the Bible through in a year.

Many of these plans can be downloaded to your smartphone or tablet computer or emailed to you.  With the available technology, there’s really no reason why anyone can’t get their Bible read in a year.  As with anything worthwhile, it’s a discipline.  But, the return is immeasurable!

With today being January 1, why not get the New Year started off right?  Read the Bible today and everyday for a year.  I promise you that this time next year you’ll be glad you did!  Why not join with 2 or 3 other folks and hold one another accountable?  And while you’re at it, how about committing to not only reading Scripture, but also to memorizing it as well?  One verse a week for a year means 52 verses memorized!

Blessings to you in 2013.  Whether you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, or whether you experience great and glorious blessings, may your walk with Jesus be deeper and sweeter than ever!
